- A $3,000 annual tuition reimbursement is available to all employees (after one year of employment).
- Scholarships for internal and external candidates interested in nursing careers are available through the SBMC Foundation and a partnership between the hospital Auxiliary and the National Orange Show.
- A CNA certification program, as well as a CNA-to-LVN program, are offered in cooperation with San Bernardino Adult School.
- A two-year RN-to-BSN program, offered via satellite hookup through Holy Names College of Oakland, allows SBMC employees to work and go to class right on campus. Up to $11,000 of financial support is available to interested and qualified employees.
- An LVN-to-RN program is available to all qualified SBMC employees.
- A unique brushup or GED qualification program offering free tutorial in basic skills like reading and math will soon be available to SBMC employees.
- A variety of low- or no-cost classes are offered through the St. Bernardine Education Department, including a comprehensive series of Continuing Education sessions that provide credits toward annual licensing requirements.
- RN Clinical Ladder Program — Clinical Nurse I, II and III. 5% base pay increase with promotion to next step. Specific nursing specialty criteria must be achieved yearly to advance on the Clinical Ladder Program.
