Our Hometown From a small agrarian population deeply attached to rural values, the south Sacramento region has grown over the past 30 years to become a vibrant community full of young families. Today, southern Sacramento offers the best of two worlds. People here enjoy the benefits of nearby Sacramento, but live in a beautiful suburban setting that makes it easy to relax and forget the stresses of the big city. For outdoor adventures, residents visit the wilderness areas of Stone Lakes Refuge, Cosumnes River Preserve, and Laguna Creek Parkway, a 13-mile waterway featuring wetlands, open space, hiking and riding trails, fishing and bird watching. Two golf courses, three health clubs, and 41 parks provide athletic outlets, and movie theatres, restaurants and shopping ensure plenty of leisure entertainment. An excellent, highly-desired school district feeds into the Cosumnes River College, which offers both vocational training and a transfer program to four-year universities, such as nearby California State University, Sacramento and the University of Davis, California. The Sacramento International Airport is only 25 miles north of Elk Grove, and an excellent freeway system puts our community within easy driving distance of the Bay Area to the west and great mountain skiing to the east.
