Finding a facility that encourages you to grow in your career, and provides you with educational opportunities to do so, is essential. The following is an account of how MSJ was able to support one of our employees:

"I began my career here at Mercy San Juan Medical Center in 1990 as a patient transporter. In 1992, I moved on an opportunity to become a department aide in the Operating Room. This quickly drew my interest. After some fellow co-workers encouraged me to become a nurse, I went back to school. With the hospital providing tuition reimbursement and flexibility in my scheduling, I succeeded in getting my RN degree. I was able to get a staff nurse job in the OR after some initial training in the Outpatient unit and Recovery room. With a lot of hard work and support from people at Mercy, I have now become the Manager of the Operating Room and PACU. I appreciate the opportunities Mercy has given me." - Michael, Surgery Manager Mercy San Juan Medical Center.
