About UsOur Work Environment At Mercy Medical Center Merced, you’ll find enthusiastic team members who take personal responsibility for solving problems and finding ways to improve everything we do. We take pride in our ability to do the right thing at the right time, so patients have the best possible care, when they need it. We’re small enough that we can really get to know one another and recognize the importance of each person’s contribution. And anticipating the addition of a new facility, we share an opportunity to shape our future as a valued partner in our community. Our Hometown Conveniently located in the center of California, Merced offers its residents a rich small-town community with a wide variety of cultural, leisure, and outdoor activities. Our tree-lined neighborhoods with affordable houses and friendly people are great places to raise families. We're best known as the gateway to Yosemite National Park, just 86 miles from Merced along scenic Highway 140. We're also only 130 miles south of San Francisco, 120 miles east of Monterey, and 275 miles north of Los Angeles-putting us within easy driving distance of many of the state's major attractions. But there are plenty of things to do right here at home. Many beautifully preserved historical buildings provide a glimpse into our past, including the Main Street Theater, the red brick Old County Library, the neo-classic Transpo Center, and the Hotel Tioga, built in the Spanish Mediterranean style. Families will enjoy the Applegate Park and Zoo, the Castle Air Museum, the Merced Agricultural Museum, and the Challenger Learning Center. Our new multimillion-dollar arts center features three floors of paintings, sculptures, and photography, as well as rooms for dance and theater, and conference facilities. We're especially proud to be the home of University of California Merced. Boating, wind sailing, swimming, canoeing, and picnics are on the menu at Lake Yosemite, while our wilderness area lets visitors enjoy the diversity of some of the state's rare wetlands, including the 550 species of birds, animals, and plants. After an active day outdoors, the Red Rock Winery and Brewery or any of our other restaurants make it easy to relax with friends.
