Welcome to Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital

Putting patients first–that’s what you do at Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital. We make sure the people who work here have all that’s needed to deliver the highest quality of care. It’s no wonder that we were so pleased to receive the “2008 Exceeding Patient Expectations” award by Avatar International. Our mission is to provide outstanding care to all of Calaveras County.

You’ve found that the rural setting is a great place for the family. One of the fastest growing counties in California, Calaveras County is known for the lifestyle and having great schools, Gold Country history and more geology than in any other state. The county is bordered by the Stanislaus and Tuolumne rivers which offer outdoor recreation. You can tour any number of underground caverns, and the rolling hills offer both serenity and adventure. Add beautiful weather and friendly people, and it really feels like home.

Centrally located in San Andreas, California, Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital opened in 1951 and is a not-for-profit, 48-bed general acute care hospital. We are governed jointly by the Mark Twain Health Care District and Catholic Healthcare West, an organization that adds to the services we can provide the community. Here, you work with 31 active physicians practicing in 24 specialties. The hospital is well-known for our general acute care services, outpatient programs and community involvement. We also offer health education to K-12 children so they can feel comfortable and informed about healthcare issues. In all, this is a place where people look after one another, and that’s exactly the kind of life and career you’ve always dreamed of.
