Bakersfield Memorial Hospital nurses are always eager to welcome new members to their care units- we hope you’ll soon be one of them! Our Hometown Bakersfield named after Colonel Thomas Baker is a thriving city with unique attractions, dining experiences and entertainment for all ages and interests. Bakersfield is a city that still has that "downtown home" feel that makes America great. If you like sunshine, then you'll love Bakersfield. It's sunny here almost every day of the year. In the summer, high temperatures are in the 90's, but it's a dry heat with low humidity. In the winter, its cooler, often down below 50 degrees, but rarely freezes. Downtown you'll find several antique malls, with booth after booth of one-of-a-kind treasures from yesteryear. Or you can amble around the 19th Street promenade, primarily between Chester Avenue and H Street, and browse some of the trendy boutiques and upscale clothing shops. Concerts, car racing, casinos and cycling; whatever your passion, Bakersfield has something just for you. With warm weather like ours, outdoor sports like hiking, swimming, white-water rafting, boating and fishing are perennial favorites. You certainly won't want to miss all the activities in town, either-like our many raceways, music festivals, theaters and performing arts, local clubs (country, jazz, karaoke and R&B) and diverse museums. |
